Friday, August 20, 2010 9:30am - 1:30pm The second of two vineyard water management field days will be held at Hoot Owl Creek/Alexander Valley Vineyards in Alexander Valley. Presentations and demonstrations are followed by a barbecue lunch at 12:30pm. Watch for SCWC e-blasts and website updates with additional information.
Reservations are required by August 13, 2010 for the lunch headcount.

Discussions and demonstrations will be held on the topic of wise water use in the vineyard. Better irrigation scheduling methods will be discussed, including the use of various technologies to assist in irrigation management. Alternatives to overhead sprinklers for both cooling and frost protection will be discussed. Speakers from NRCS, Sotoyome and Southern Sonoma RCDs, Sonoma County Water Agency and Sonoma County Winegrape Commission will be on hand to discuss other aspects of water conservation, including frost protection, on-site water storage, irrigation system efficiency, available cost-sharing programs, ground water management, etc.
