Instructions for sending using Vertical Response (optional)
- Export your mailing list
Depending on what you use to collect and maintain your list of customers you should be able to export a customer list with name (first and last) and email. You don't really need any other fields.
Creating a Tab Delimited Text file from Microsoft™ Excel™- In Excel, open the spreadsheet containing your contacts. Then select File, Save As.
- In the Save As dialog box, set the Save as type option to Text (Tab delimited)(*.txt).
- Enter a file name (such as email1.txt) for the export file and click Save.
- If you see a warning about the destination file type not supporting multiple sheets, just click OK.
- Select the file you just exported (such as email1.txt): This is around where you need to browse for the file.
Creating a Tab Delimited Text file from Microsoft™ Outlook™ Address Book
- Click on Contacts in the Outlook Bar, select File, Import and Export.
- In the Import and Export Wizard, select Export to a file, then click Next.
- In the Outlook folder, select the Contacts folder and click Next.
- For the type of the export file, select Comma Separated Values (Windows) and click Next.
- Enter a file name (such as email1.csv) for the export file and click Next.
- Click Finish to complete the export.
- Select the file you just exported (such as email1.csv) This is around where you need to browse for the file.
- Sign up (If you already have an account then skip this step)
Go to www.verticalresponse.com and follow the signup instructions. - Log In
Go to app.verticalresponse.com and log in to your account. - Import your list
- Click on Lists and then New List
- Agree to the Terms of Service
- Select Create a new mailing list from an external file and then follow the instructions.
- Create your Email Campaign
- Click on Emails and then New Email
- Agree to the Terms of Service
- Enter a name such as "Sonoma In Chicago"
- Select Freeform HTML and then Next Step...
- Put your company name in the from label
- Put "Sonoma in Chicago benefit for Common Threads" in the subject line
- Copy the code below and paste it into the HTML Content area
- Use the Convert to Plain Text tool to create your plain text version
- Follow the steps to test, choose your list, and send your email
